  • Logan Thomas’ stay on the Lions’ practice squad turned out to be a brief one, but it wasn’t because the Lions lost interest in transitioning the quarterback to tight end after one day.
  • Peter Schrager of FOX Sports reports that the Bills are signing Thomas off of Detroit’s practice squad because they also see him as a potential tight end.
  • Charles Clay has been nothing short of a highly overpaid disappointment at TE. He counts 19.5 mil against the cap this year and 13.5 mil next.

@ProFootballTalk: Report: Bills signing Logan Thomas off Lions practice squad

Logan Thomas’ stay on the Lions’ practice squad turned out to be a brief one, but it wasn’t because the Lions lost interest in transitioning the quarterback to tight end after one day.

Peter Schrager of FOX Sports reports that the Bills are signing Thomas off of Detroit’s practice squad because they also see him as a potential tight end. His 6’6″, 250-pound frame and the athletic ability he showed while playing quarterback at Virginia Tech and during stops with Arizona, Miami and the Giants in the pros stand as the biggest reasons to believe Thomas can pull off the switch.

Schrager adds that the team is “inspired” by Browns wide receiver Terrelle Pryor’s own move from quarterback over the last couple of years. That transition took a while to bear fruit, but Pryor has shown he can be a productive receiver in Cleveland this season.

Expecting Thomas to provide much help to the team in the remaining weeks of this season is probably a stretch, but an offseason at his new position could give the Bills an intriguing prospect to use as a target for Tyrod Taylor, another Virginia Tech product, come 2017.

Laughing at Bills fans giving a thumbs down on Clay being disappointing. 36 catches, 325 yards, 0 TDs. 19.5 mil against the cap. Money well spent lol
